Meet the Vocal Workout Singing School Vocal Coaches
The Vocal Workout Singing School trains vocal coaches in the vocal workout singing method. We work with professional singers and teachers with impressive merit and backgrounds. The vocal coaches in our Vocal Workout Singing School honor a method that creates a rich sound, accommodating unique musical genres. We work toward a common purpose of voice transformation and crafting voices, one vocal lesson at a time.
“I am amazed. I look back on what I used to sound like, it’s not even the same person.”
Born in Los Angeles, California, ILana Martin was performing at the age of 8. After, Martin entered Boston’s famed Berklee College of Music. She received the first full scholarship offered just for vocalists. This then shot her into touring the world multiple times as the founder of the ILana Martin Jazz Quintet and as a supporting vocalist for Barry White, Patti LaBelle, D’Angelo, Stevie Wonder, Donna Summer, Norman Brown, Rafael Martos and others. Now, Martin links to Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, and Alicia Keys for her voice, while her characteristic hold of phrasing and lyric is one of a kind. Now, as a master of soul vocal performance, Martin is also an accomplished pianist. She performs and writes songs for both stage and film. She was signed with Polygram Records, and has toured as a solo voice and jazz piano artist.
Today, Martin is a voice teacher, songwriting coach, and R&B and gospel voice expert that wows audiences with her powerful tone and storytelling. Martin founded the Vocal Workout Singing School in New York City’s Soho in 1998, New York City’s highly favored vocal facility, employing world-class teachers.
“She is a very special teacher — she lights up the room.”
