Before announcing the Song of the Year award, Stevie Wonder and the Pentatonix paid a touching tribute to the late Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire. White tragically passed on February 4th after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. This left the group with with less than two weeks to rehearse their tribute song “That’s the Way of The World.”
As photos of White filled the screens, Pentatonix laid down the beat to set-up Stevie’s iconic vocals. The group glided through the heartwarming Earth, Wind & Fire hit, accompanied by the audience clapping along. The other members of Earth, Wind & Fire were clearly moved by this performance and reached out to thank Wonder and the Pentatonix later via Twitter saying “Thank you to Stevie Wonder and @PTXofficial for the tribute to our Maurice White @TheGRAMMYs.” What is your favorite memory of the Earth, Wind & Fire legend?
